Access Floor Security

Your access floor is likely to be protecting expensive computer equipment which very likely contains highly sensitive information. Therefore it is crucial to ensure the security of the access floor and the building housing it.

One measure you can take is to ensure the building housing the access floor is physically guarded 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Set up a procedure for visitors to sign in at reception.

Protecting the building

Installing an alarm system is another way to guard your access floor. There are alarm systems that will respond to doors left open, or to attempted unauthorised access. A record can be kept of door openings and all proximity card transactions of authorised entrants. Proximity readers can then control lift access to floors. CCTV can also be useful in monitoring common areas of the building.

Security against fire

It is not only human trespassers that must be guarded against: fire-detection and suppression is equally important. The data centre area can be fitted with a fully addressable 2 stage fire detection system that monitors the under floor area of the access floor, the room and ceiling void space. The data centre area can also be fitted with a gas fire suppression system.
