Access Flooring Cradle and Batten Systems

In the residential market, noise transmission from both airborne and impact sources is a growing concern. Reports recently have highlighted that domestic noise complaints have increased and that a high number of residential acoustic tests result in failure.

Cradle and batten systems reduce the transmission of impact and airborne sound through concrete floors by acoustically 'isolating' the top floor surface from the structural floor

Cradle and batten systems have been through rigorous independent tests for members of the Pre-Cast Flooring Federation (PFF). This is to compare both the airborne and impact sound transmissions of differing floor constructions and floor types.

For acoustic control in both new build and refurbishment projects, cradle and batten systems are highly effective. For applications where the sub-floor is out of level tolerance or the sub-floor is uneven the cradle and batten system is in its element and is an extension of the concept of the batten system. Cradle and batten systems resist compression under load whilst providing an ongoing and consistent level of sound insulation at the same time. The systems can be laid with an overall depth of between 55mm and 500mm, this means they are particularly effective in overcoming difficult site problems.
