Eurostar - Case Study

Eurostar at St. Pancras Station

St. Pancras Station was first opened in 1868; William Barlow's train shed was a spectacular feat of Victorian engineering and held the world record for the largest enclosed space for many years. St. Pancras International, home of Eurostar, remains a hugely impressive historical structure and has featured in the Harry Potter films, it even boasts Europe's longest champagne bar.

St. Pancras International is currently undergoing a £800 million architectural restoration and extension, which includes work at the station’s departure and arrival lounges for international Eurostar train journeys. Fieldmans Access Floors was chosen for this high profile job because of its reputation for quality and ability to deliver in prestigious projects. As arguably the biggest restoration project in the UK of recent years, the Eurostar terminal was recently opened by Her Majesty The Queen.

Fieldmans completed this project by setting out using a laser to align diffusers, of which 1500 were fitted. Specially adapted pedestals were supplied and fit to the diffusers. Fieldmans committed to completing this job within the 5 weeks as programmed, as speed of project completion was particularly important to the client.

Therefore to achieve project completion within this tight schedule, our staff performed work out of normal hours, weekend work and double shifts. Fieldmans were confident enough in this time promise that a prior agreement was made whereby there would be no extra charge to the client for this extra labour, other than that initially budgeted.
