Kingspan Raised Flooring Recycling Scheme

Kingspan is the only raised flooring manufacturer in the UK to operate a pioneering recycling scheme to reduce the amount of waste for landfill that is generated by the installation of raised flooring.

This scheme works by recycling site returns and offcut panels from customers by putting it back into the manufacturing process. Due to this environmental initiative which takes place at the Hull manufacturing site, virtually no Kingspan waste goes to landfill.

What is the end result?

• General waste, including paper, plastic and polyester wrappings is compacted either for re-use as the original product, or converted into biofuel.
   
• Waste from chipboard is shredded and recycled to either be reprocessed back into chipboard, or used as a filter cake to purify water by Yorkshire water
   
• Sawdust is recycled into animal bedding
   
• Pallets are either reworked or recycled into biofuel
