Sound Proofing of an Access Floor

Soundproofing is lowering the intensity of a sound by surrounding the source of the noise with sound absorbent materials or surfaces. The capacity of a room soundproofing properties depends on each of its features, including the floor.

Soundproofing protects against two main types of noise; airborne noise – both horizontal and vertical, and impact noise.

A sound proofed access floor can be suitable for a number of environments, from commercial offices to call centres. The sound proofing is controlled by four factors; the material and density of the core, the material used for the top covering, the use of stringers and the height of the void beneath the access floor and the original floor.

To ensure maximum comfort and good soundproof protection, Butech conducts rigorous soundproofing tests of its floors, in accordance with DIN 52210.
