Raised Floor - Underfloor Air Conditioning

A good raised floor will have scope for underfloor air conditioning, if this is a requirement. There are two options for conducting fresh air into your underfloor space: the first is a conventional central ventilation system; the second is decentralised Fresh Air Modules (FAM) designed for underfloor application.

Air conditioning beneath your raised floor

The void beneath the raised floor is used directly as a plenum for the distribution of conditioned air. Conditioned Air Modules (CAM units) should be located throughout your office space to generate conditioned air of up to 35kW per zone.

If your underfloor air conditioning system comes with intelligent control, you will be able to adjust its temperature and fan speed from your PC via intranet/internet connectivity (TCP/IP).

Many large organisations have installed underfloor air conditioning beneath their raised floors. They include: Land Rover, Bloomberg, Customs & Excise, BAA, BBC, CAA, Regus, IBM, BT and Sainsbury’s.

There are many advantages to air conditioning the void beneath the raised floor, such as energy efficiency, high standards of indoor air quality and proven reliability.
